Twax Joint

Twax Joint – The Supercharged Way to Smoke Weed

Have you ever heard the term ‘twax joint’?

The cannabis community has come a long way in the 24 years since California first legalized medical marijuana back in 1996. As of November 2020 — Washington D.C and 15 other states have fully legalized marijuana to be used recreationally without a prescription.

With that, there’s a ton of new lingo being used to describe weed and the many ways one can enjoy it; but today, we’re going to keep it simple and focus on a little something called the twax joint.

While the concept itself has been around since the 1960s (known as Thai sticks), a twaxed or shatter joint in the United States are just now starting to become popular with seasoned marijuana users because of their large size, extremely high potency levels, and pleasant flavour.

If you still feel like you’re in the weeds about what a twax joint is, we’ve got you covered. This article will clarify everything you need to know about what they are, the benefits of smoking them, and how to roll one.

Let’s get started!

What is a Twax Joint?

what is a twax joint

A twaxed joint is just like a regular joint — but on steroids. In all seriousness, they’re much larger and have significantly higher THC levels than your run-of-the-mill joint.

In addition to using bud, twax joints also contain some of the ultra-potent cannabis concentrates that can be laced on the inside or outside, around the joint.

To put things into context, most concentrates contain at least 70% THC.

That said, the strongest weed strains don’t typically cross the 25% THC threshold, but if you throw in a little concentrate, you’ll have a product that is around 95% THC.

A twax joint’s strong potency is why we don’t recommend twaxing a joint unless you’re a seasoned user with high tolerance levels, but if you can hang, twaxing can be relatively cost-effective.

You end up smoking less because each hit packs a much more potent punch, which extends the life of your stash so if you aren’t already in love with the idea of a twax joint now, you will when you see (and experience) the savings!

Benefits of a Twax Joint

As you’re now fully aware, the biggest perk of twaxing a joint, blunt, or bowl is its potency.

However, if you use a high-quality CBD, THC, or hybrid strain that is loaded with terpenes, cannabinoids, and trichomes — then adding a concentrate will increase the potency and amplify the benefits of the entourage effect.

Since twax joints are so strong, they typically result in a more intense and longer-lasting high.

It’s also a much cleaner, easier, and cheaper way to consume sticky concentrates because you don’t have to clean up a sticky mess, preheat a nail with a blow torch, or pay for expensive equipment.

Twax joints are also portable, convenient to smoke in group settings, and highly impressive.

If you enjoy rolling intricate cross joints and showing off your rolling skills to your friends, then a twax joint will definitely take your sesh to the next level.

How to Roll a Twax Joint

Now that you know what a twax joint is and the benefits of smoking it let’s go over how to roll one and how to smoke shatter in a joint. You’ll need:

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, it’s time to decide if you want to add your concentrate to the inside or outside of your joint.

Method 1: Inside the Joint

Start by rolling it like you would a typical joint, but before you seal it up — you’ll want to add your cannabis concentrate to the inside, over your ground bud.

To do this, simply grind the weed and fill your rolling paper about halfway. Then drizzle your concentrate down the middle of the joint if it’s liquid, or form the concentrate into a long tube with your hands if it’s a harder consistency.

If you have shatter, for example, you’d want to take half a gram or less of your favourite pull-and-snap, warm it up in your hands, and roll it into a thin cylinder that you can place right in the core center of your joint.

Take some rosin and spread and pieces of it ever so lightly over the length of your joint. Be careful with rosin – it’s extremely sticky and you might end up ruining your entire creation if you’re not careful!

Once your concentrate is secured, sprinkle another layer of ground bud over the concentrate; kind of like a sandwich, then seal it up like a regular joint and enjoy!

Method 2: Outside the Joint

If you’re feeling artistic or adventurous, and you want to add your extracts to the outside of the joint— you’ll want to start by rolling and sealing it like a normal joint.

If you’re feeling extra adventurous, twax the inside of your joint before rolling it up and double up by twaxxing the outside too!

Once the joint is ready and rolled, you can bond whatever concentrate you want to it.

If it’s a liquid, like THC distillate, you can drizzle it around however you see fit or dunk it completely to coat the outside of your joint.

Once covered, many decide to coat or paint the outside of their joints with kief. The thick, sticky coating on the outside of your twax joint helps the kief adhere to the surface, creating a super-charged kief joint that’s incredibly potent.

If you’re working with a more malleable extract, you can roll it into a long tube or snake-like shape that can be quickly wrapped around the outside of the joint.  Many make fun designs like intricate spider webs and geometric patterns since shatter is such a malleable concentrate.

If you want it to pack an even bigger punch, you can sprinkle some kief over the intertwined concentrate along the outside of the joint before you light up!

Method 3: Hybrid Roll

Daring stoners have been known to combine methods 1 and 2 to make a hybrid roll that has concentrates on the inside and outside of the joint. To do this, follow the steps from method one and method 2. You can add a more solid extract to the inside and a liquid one for the outside — or you can flip it and reverse it.

Just be aware that these will be incredibly potent, so we highly advise against smoking it this way if you’re a newbie or if you’re still sorting out your tolerance levels!

Wrapping It Up

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to spice up your smoking experience or if you’re a seasoned toker —  a twax joint will get the job done. Their ease of use, potency, portability, and cost-effectiveness has forced many consumers to take a closer look and learn what all the hype is about.

Just be sure to do your research about where you purchase your weed and concentrates from.

Poorly sourced and unreputable products likely won’t deliver or give you the effects you’re looking for, not to mention they could contain harmful contaminants, so be sure to check reviews and buy your cannabis concentrates from a trusted online dispensary Canada before you go on your twaxxing journey!

Happy toking!
